Discover how INSET and the LIAISE COST Action are joining forces to strengthen skills, knowledge exchange and cooperation for wider Industrial Symbiosis adoption across Europe.
Industrial Symbiosis depends on cooperation between companies, researchers, public authorities, training providers and regional organisations. To support this collaboration, INSET promotes links with complementary European initiatives working towards more circular and resource-efficient industrial systems.
One of these initiatives is the LIAISE COST Action – Cooperation, Development and Cross-Border Transfer of Industrial Symbiosis among Industry and Stakeholders (CA22110).
LIAISE brings together researchers, practitioners, companies, policymakers and other stakeholders from across Europe and beyond. Its aim is to strengthen cooperation, knowledge exchange and the transfer of Industrial Symbiosis practices between countries, regions and sectors.
While INSET focuses on skills development, vocational education and training, capacity building and policy recommendations, LIAISE provides an international network for sharing methodologies, case studies, research results and practical experiences.
Both initiatives address common challenges, including limited awareness of Industrial Symbiosis, knowledge and skills gaps, difficulties in coordinating stakeholders and the need for stronger policy and institutional support.
Through its Working Groups, webinars, workshops, training activities and scientific exchanges, LIAISE explores the technical, organisational, financial, social and policy dimensions of Industrial Symbiosis. This work is especially relevant for INSET’s target groups: enterprises, VET providers, innovation intermediaries, public authorities and professionals supporting circular economy initiatives.
By connecting INSET’s practical training approach with LIAISE’s international research and stakeholder network, both initiatives contribute to a shared goal: making Industrial Symbiosis more accessible, applicable and scalable.
Together, INSET and LIAISE help build the skills, knowledge, partnerships and enabling conditions needed to transform industrial by-products into valuable resources and create more circular, competitive and resilient industrial ecosystems.
